“…But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15
One of the very first things we bought when James and I got married was a sign to hang in our house that said this. We were not looking for it but liked it so much that when we found it we had to get it!
Every house or apartment we have lived in since then, this sign has hung near our front door. A reminder every day as we come and go who we serve.
We all are serving something. It could be our job, our children,
our spouses, or our comfort. There are too many things to list here but God gently reminds us that He is important above all.
The Bible tells us this as well, "No one can serve to two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24 NKJV.
Who or what are you truly serving today? From the beginning of our salvation, James and I said that we will serve You God. We did not say how or only this way or that way or only if these things happen. No., we said yes and Jesus, you do the rest! I am here today to say the road has not always been easy but God has always been faithful because we said we would serve only Him!
What are you serving today? Let's examine our hearts today and ask God to show us truth about ourselves. Real our hearts to us today oh God that we will turn from untying that is not You and turn back to You.
